We here at G.O. CDC are saddened to hear of the passing of Board Member Jacques Chapman. Jacques was a very strong person with a great heart. He had a passion for helping others. But we all know him for his "true" passion his mustang. Jacques will be greatly missed. Please send your condolences to the Chapman family.

Update: 8/16/2015
Obituary:
ASHTABULA — Jacques Hurley Chapman, age 70, of Topper Ave., passed away Monday, August 10, 2015, at his home.

He was born April 9, 1945, in El Paso, Texas, the son of Bishop Robert L. and Geraldine (Chisholm) Chapman and had been an Ashtabula resident most of his adult life.

A graduate of John Adams High School, Cleveland, he worked as a lab technician for Plasticolors for 26 years prior to his retirement in March of 2002. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served during the Vietnam Era.

Jacques served on the Board of Directors for the GO Community Development Corporation and was a member of the American Legion, Dewey Howlett Post #103.

He excelled at martial arts, earning a black belt even after having hip surgery, but his true passion was cars, especially his mustang convertible.

Known to many as an “amazing man who outlived a terminal cancer prognosis and fulfilled a bucket list like no other”, he never gave into his condition and continued to live life to the fullest while inspiring everyone with whom he came in contact. His loving and kind heart, contagious laughter, and positive outlook on life regardless of the circumstance will be truly missed. His journey gave him a true love of God through his walk of faith. He will never be forgotten for those blessed to have been a part of his family and wonderful collection of friends.

He is survived by his two daughters, Ramona Chapman of Houston, Texas and Andrea “Hope” Adams of Atlanta, Ga.; his “adopted” daughter, Anna Zirkle; the mother of his children, Juanita Chapman of Ashtabula; four grandchildren, Ian and Shontia Adams, Thierry Chapman, and Syan Stancill; three brothers, Chapman Roberts of New York, N.Y., and Harold (Debbie DeCamillo-Chapman) Chapman and Irwin (Pamela) Chapman, both of Ashtabula; his dear friend and caregiver, June Taylor; his best friend, Doug Blanchard; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Calling Hours will be from 4 to 6 p.m., with a Service to follow at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19th, at Gateway Church, 2300 Austinburg Road, Ashtabula.  The Rev. Mitchell Jones, Pastor of Miracle Temple COGIC, will officiate. Inurnment will be in Lakeview Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to DUCRO FUNERAL SERVICES AND CREMATORY, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, who is handling the arrangements.
